Markot.tel d.o.o., based in Zagreb, was founded in 1991 with the ambition to develop and deliver a wide range of telecommunication services. The idea was sparked during the founder’s study visit to the United States in 1988, following the partial liberalization of the American telecom sector. The breakup of AT&T and the emergence of telecom marketing campaigns inspired the creation of new services in what was then a strictly monopolized environment.

The company’s first service was a telephone contact center named INFOR, offering consumer information—especially about books—through premium-rate numbers. Although development plans were ambitious, the Croatian War of Independence and regulatory obstacles until 1998 significantly slowed progress.

After 1998, Markot.tel became the leading value-added service provider (voice, SMS) in Croatia. It developed several original platforms: a web micro-payment system, TV concepts linked to telecom services, an educational-entertainment format for children called "Učilica," interactive TV games, and automated voice-response systems for market research, and many others. These projects were highly successful and pioneering both locally and globally.

In the early 2000s, the company’s growth was once again hampered—this time by inefficiencies in Croatia’s judicial and regulatory systems. By the early 2010s, the company faced serious threats of liquidation, prompting a pause in the development of its most innovative projects.

Today, Markot.tel is focused on preserving its innovations and legally reclaiming misappropriated funds. It plans to relaunch several of its projects, whose global potential has only been strengthened by the emergence of new technologies such as AI.

The founder of Markot.tel is currently fully engaged with the international NoMoreSilence project, which he initiated and publicly represents. For more information on current business activities, visit the official website.
