Moj Dvor (My Castle) is a residential development project initiated by Željko Markota in the heart of Zagreb. By acquiring a prominent central location and engaging a highly respected Croatian and international architect, the project established a unique architectural and visual concept—a condominium designed as a fully original living experience. At the time of its inception, it stood as the first and only residential design of its kind in Croatia and neighboring countries.
Despite its clear legal, ownership, and market standing, the project was abruptly halted in 2009—just after the initial construction began—due to structural weaknesses and inefficiencies in the Croatian judiciary. Since then, Željko Markota has been engaged in ongoing legal proceedings against a Croatian state-owned bank whose unlawful conduct directly contributed to the project’s suspension. These legal battles remain unresolved in Croatia, with some aspects now escalating to European courts.
Over time, the original foundations of the My Castle project have been validated, and its potential not only preserved but enhanced. Because of its distinctive nature and lasting relevance, the project will be resumed and completed once legal proceedings are concluded and the necessary funds and time are restored.
